It has been a bit over a year now after we joined forces together with Tori, Oikotie & Rakentaja. From day one, it was obvious to us that to achieve our goals, we need to build a strong united culture for Schibsted Suomi. Because without people, we have nothing, and without consciously derived culture, we won’t empower full potential for those people to get where we want to be as a company.

 

Values are the base for our together built culture

We defined that what we need is a culture of moving fast, learning while doing and enjoying the wins together. A together built culture that really helps us to accomplish our purpose of empowering people to make smart choices. We started this journey by defining this purpose and designing values that are a base for our culture. Our values evolved to be: win together, be curious and have courage. The reality in the past year has been that our people have really shown courage, curiosity and will to win together. This has happened by jumping into this change with a great can-do- attitude and by giving their all to make this integration and building a new company together happen. This would not be possible without it and it’s something for all of us to be proud of.

 

Defining cultural elements has helped us on the way

As a foundation for our way of working, we have defined many important cultural elements together during the past year. These are for example our organization, how we lead, ways to collaborate and communicate with each other, and ways on how we actively learn as individuals but also as a company together.  We have also moved together under the same roof. However, we have not had the opportunity to meet physically yet in our new “office-home”, but that has not kept us strangers. After a year of getting to know each other through screens, I think it’s fair to say that we are all in the same boat together. Sailing towards the same direction, with the great people who are giving their all to find new ways to win together.

 

The cultural journey has just started

I think it’s fair to point out that even though we have accomplished a lot together in this past year, our cultural journey has just started. The next big step to our culture is getting us from a 100% remote way of working to finally meet physically and test our own hybrid model.
